Our four-legged friends

We have four pets (and no kids) - Two dogs and two cats.  Buddy Billy the Black Bart of Border Collies, Skylar the Non-Stop Border Collie, a Calico cat named Pookie, a Snowshoe named Pixie, and all of 'em have a different type of butt. :-)

Buddy (aka the 'monster beast') came to be here because of my interaction with other border collies belonging to clients of mine.  The dogs I've come to know do what dogs should do - bark when you arrive and then after realizing who you are, quiet down and let you do your job.  Buddy was rescued by  Pets and People in Yukon, OK (a town just west of OKC).  Buddy has what we call a swivel butt because if he's sitting between two people and one stops scratching his ears, he swivels around to the other for more attention.

Pookie (the 'major beast') is the alpha pet.  She is 16 as of this year (2006) and is probably the only cat I've ever understood.  She has an elevator butt - the more you scratch her back near the tail, the higher she raises her butt.  She can be pretty demanding around feeding time and always reminds me about 2 hours in advance that she's getting hungry.  Pookie sleeps with me every night, and prefers (insists) that I curl up around her and not my wife.

Pixie is the fuzzy one (and the 'minor beast') - Every time she wakes up from a nap it's a new world.  I look at her and tell her that she's "got blue eyes, long legs, and a fuzzy butt" cuz that's what she is.  In her defense, she is absolutely the sweetest cat you will ever come across.  There isn't a mean bone in her and she is very conversational - we often discuss minor things like quantum physics and argue about the price of rice in China.

Skylar (aka stinky butt cuz he can have gas once in a while) is the newest addition to the four-legged critters around here.  He's another Border Collie, adopted (again) from Pets and People.  Skylar is very smart, and picks things up with an amazing ability.  He has actually been here twice now as we thought he was a little too aggressive with the cats.  He came back because Pets and People talked me into playing with him one afternoon after he'd been returned for a couple weeks (I realized I really did like the dog and felt that he should have a second chance).  He's in his "forever home" now and is a very welcome addition to the herd.
